Bolt Beat's Jason Reed typically spits facts, but his enthusiasm about Derwin James and Jim Harbaugh went too far. Reed was open about the possibility of James becoming a two-way star in the vein of a Prime Deion Sanders.

"James does not have the baseball acumen of Sanders nor has he ever been an offensive weapon... yet," Reed prefaced before saying, "While James is not picking up the lumber anytime soon, the star safety might see some reps on the offensive side of the ball under new head coach Jim Harbaugh."

Sanders was never a top receiver in the NFL, but at his best, he was an all-time great at cornerback. James has had some great years, but there are still plenty of players ahead of him on the CB totem pole.

Harbaugh, meanwhile, didn't oversee a factory of skill-position draft picks besides running back while running Michigan's football program. There were a few day-two receivers, but Harbaugh, despite being a QB in his playing days, isn't quite a WR whisperer.

James making a Deion-like jump just sounds too far-fetched right now.

Travis Hunter has the chance to be better than Deion Sanders at WR in the NFL

In terms of players who can meet and/or exceed Sanders in the NFL, the conversation begins and ends with Travis Hunter. No. 12 is, like Deion, a CB first, even if analysts prefer him at the WR position, but he is a legitimate two-way contributor on both sides of the ball.

There's beauty in Sanders seeing someone who can do what he did better than him on Coach Prime's Colorado, and prior to that, Jackson State, roster. A true torch is seemingly being passed.

Of course, Sanders was a winner in the NFL. Hunter can only meet and exceed him by becoming a champion at some point in his career.
