Colorado football alum makes confident prediction on Travis Hunter's NFL draft status
Travis Hunter is one of the most well-known players in all of college football -- he is, after all, an EA Sports College Football 25 cover athlete -- and is the best two-way player in the land. The only notable one in NFL draft circles anyway.
Colorado football alum, Darrin Chiaverini, spoke out about Hunter and what he thinks his destination will be in 2025 Or at least where said destination will be selecting in the draft.
“Travis Hunters’s a top-five pick next year in the draft,” Chiaverin said (h/t Essentially Sports). “(It’ll be) interesting to see what Hunter does."
Rob Rang of Fox Sports has the 6-foot-1 185-pound Suwanee, Georgia, native going No. 2 to the New England Patriots in his 2025 NFL mock draft made last month.
This past season, he amassed 31 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, five deflections, and three interceptions throughout the 2023 campaign.
At the other end, Hunter reeled in 57 receptions and 721 yards while averaging 12.6 per catch. All of those numbers resulted in five touchdowns, while one of his longest receptions stood at 57 yards.
Who is Colorado football alum Darrin Chiaverini?
Chiaverini, who's now the head coach for Northeastern State University, picked up four letters during his playing days in 1995-98. In addition, the wide receiver was drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns back in 1999.
Some of the other coaching stops Chiaverini has had are as an offensive analyst for tight ends and wide receivers at UCLA, offensive coordinator at Colorado, and even took on a role as the special teams guy at Texas Tech.
His resume is stacked, to say the least.
His opinion surrounding Hunter's draft results holds weight, and do not be surprised if, in the end, Chiaverini is right after all.
