Mike Farrell Sports' Alec Nederveld hit the nail on the head when it comes to Colorado football star Travis Hunter being featured as one of the cover athletes for the EA Sports College Football 25 video game Deluxe Edition and Standard Edition: "It only makes sense."
"Travis Hunter is probably the most well-known college football player, and it only makes sense for him to be front and center on the standard edition," Nederveld wrote.
Hunter is one of three athletes who is featured on both covers along with Texas's Quinn Ewers and Michigan's Donovan Edwards. It's not a shock to see the defending national champions and perhaps college football's most valuable brand get a representative, but a 4-8 team that has had two winning seasons in the last decade having a player on the cover is a testament to the power of "Prime Time."
With that said, though, there is a noticeable lack of one player who seemed like a shoo-in to be a cover star but won't be from CU.
Colorado football QB Shedeur Sanders not being chosen as an EA Sports College Football 25 cover athlete is a shocker
It is shocking that the "Grown QB" Shedeur Sanders is nowhere to be found on any of the EA Sports College Football 25 covers. Shedeur had a bigger role in the Buffs' four wins than Hunter and could end up being selected higher in the 2025 NFL draft.
Perhaps Deion Sanders' boisterous persona finally caught up to him. Because of Coach Prime's brashness, EA Sports brass might've decided to pass on a Sanders son to avoid public backlash. Hunter is not a lightning rod in any way compared to Sanders and is actually well-liked despite playing for CU.
It's not as though Shedeur needed any extra NIL money considering his $4.6 million valuation; not to mention his highly-paid head coach father who made millions in the NFL himself.
But Shedeur not being recognized for this historic gaming release is notable nonetheless.
