Colorado football GA Warren Sapp bothered by common misconception from public
Colorado football GA Warren Sapp told Thee Pregame Show's Uncle Neely that he doesn't appreciate when people assume that winning a Super Bowl during a given NFL career is easy.
"You didn’t necessarily know early on how hard it is to get back there," Sapp prefaced before saying, "Never thought that I’d have one opportunity. That’s just how precious championships are. Like they’re not easy to get. You hear people throwing around lightly like it’s easy to get."
"Rings culture" is something that's far more pervasive in NBA circles but is still present in NFL Hall of Fame conversations year in and year out. It mostly applies to QBs but certainly extends positively to anyone who's been part of a championship team.
Sapp addressing it may be a way of setting proper expectations for Colorado. With EA Sports College Football 25 seeing CU as a top 10 team offensively and top 25 team defensively, that is a must for all Buffs personnel moving forward.
Public opinion is about to be dramatically swayed by a couple of EA developers who were probably told to boost cover star Travis Hunter's team as much as possible.
Colorado football coaching staff set to expand, have no limit on hires
Sapp is part of the first wave of GAs with full access to the team. The NCAA updated their rules to allow unlimited members of a given coaching staff just in time for Sapp and other support staff to have a more profound impact.
Coach Prime has the ability to add a former NFL star at every position and hoard Hall of Famers on his coaching staff. There are very few coaches who this rule benefits more than the Buffs' head coach.
In 2024 and beyond, we will see how important access is to a full coaching staff -- and maybe Colorado will be an emerging force in this transition for the sport.
