Colorado football having the No. 8 ranked offense in the EA Sports College Football 25 video game ruffled many feathers on social media on June 27, mere weeks ahead of the game's long-awaited release.

The Auburn Observer's Justin Ferguson believes Deion Sanders is being allowed to get away with too much since there's very little reason, other than hype and the game's marketability, to give the Buffs such strong offensive attributes.

"Colorado was 99th nationally in yards per play last season and signed the No. 22 class in the country, even when you account for transfers," Ferguson prefaced before saying, "They’re tied for the fifth-best offense in the game. Y’all have let Deion get away with way too much."

SportsGrid's Ben Stevens brought out the receipts from the 2023 season, which certainly point to CU having an overrated offense in the game.

"Colorado's 2023 offensive numbers (FBS rank out of 133 teams): Scoring - 28.2 PPG (No. 57), Total - 363.6 YPG (No. 78), Pass - 294.7 YPG (No. 14), Rush - 68.9 YPG (No. 133), Sacks allowed - 56 (No. 132)," Stevens prefaced before saying, "But sure, 8th best offense in the country makes sense."

There's little justification for the Buffs' No. 8 ranking other than the game's developers believing big in a massive improvement from the offensive line and running back room and/or making Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter cheat codes.

Colorado football star Travis Hunter being on EA Sports College Football 25 cover helps get Buffs big ratings bump

Undoubtedly, Hunter being the game's cover star is a major reason why Colorado is getting such (perhaps undeserved) love from EA Sports.

When you're one of the featured players in the game who has spent time with the team in charge of creating it, you're going to get special privileges. It's not fair, per say, but we're also talking about a video game here.

If the game has dynamic ratings that change week to week, CU will be able to sink or swim with their perceived overrated offense this Fall.
