Shilo Sanders left Nebraska's first-half beatdown of Colorado football on September 7 due to an unspecified reason. The 24-year-old had suffered a shoulder injury in the offseason but played Week 1 against North Dakota State before his early exit in Lincoln.
"Colorado safety Shilo Sanders exited the game against Nebraska unexpectedly and headed directly to the locker room," Athlon Sports' Steve Corder relayed. "The exact nature of the incident leading to his early departure remains unclear."
Corder was the reporter who broke the lid on Deion Sanders' locker room allegedly having a gun culture, hazing, and bullying. It's possible he'll soon report the reason Shilo spent the A-Day spring game in a sling. There's whispers in media circles that an off-field incident caused the injury.
Deion Sanders says Shilo Sanders has a broken forearm at halftime of Nebraska-Colorado football game
Coach Prime said that his middle son, Shilo, likely broke his forearm and won't return to the game while being interviewed at halftime. In fact, Shilo may not return for a long time if he broke any bones. It's conceivable his collegiate career is over, but he can also pursue a redshirt if his 2024 campaign is cut short after less than three halves of football.
With everything going on in Shilo's world, including a lawsuit from a 2015 assault on Dallas-based Focus Academies security guard John Darjean -- in which Shilo left Darjean paralyzed and looking for a $11.8 million settlement -- an NFL future looks less and less likely in 2025. At least being drafted does.
As for Colorado, they'll be without one of their most vocal defensive leaders and someone with a direct line to Coach Prime indefinitely. The Buffs continue to have bad injury luck after Shedeur missed the 2023 season finale and Travis Hunter missed a month after a dirty hit from CSU's Henry Blackburn in September and October last year.
