FanSided's John Buhler grouped Shilo Sanders into a group of Colorado football players he feels can be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft; displaying a serious amount of skepticism in his own choice.
"I am strictly speculating here, but I feel the fourth first-rounder in Sanders' eyes would have to be that of his own son in safety Shilo Sanders," Buhler prefaced before saying, "While not as publicized as his younger brother Shedeur Sanders, Shilo Sanders plays in an important position group that a team looking to augment its roster just a bit in the latter portions of round one could be interested in acquiring. Again, it feels like a reach."
Any NFL career Shilo has will come after he successfully recovers from shoulder surgery and/or overcomes his legal troubles. The larger unknown is John Darjean's attempt to collect on a $12 million civil suit.
Neither are a guarantee.
Shilo Sanders' absence from Colorado football robs defense of on-field and off-field leader
Shilo insists there won't be any absence, having allegedly told one X account that a report on his status from BuffsBeat was incorrect. He was absent from the Black and Gold spring game, though, and had work done that is severe enough to project at least a month off the field.
Unfortunately for the Buffs, such an absence would take away one of their most active defenders and one of the team's locker room leaders.
If he can return in time, we can talk about NFL draft consideration. And by that, we're still probably talking about fourth or fifth-round consideration. Shilo is not going to be able to dictate his home like Deion Sanders once suggested his other sons, Shedeur Sanders by birth, and Travis Hunter by recruitment, could do before reneging on the insinuation.
