Colorado football transfer departure Tar'Varish Dawson revealed a confrontation he had with the Buffs coaching staff to BuffsBeat that paints Deion Sanders and, particularly receivers coach Jason Phillips, in a negative light.
As BuffsBeat's Josh Tolle describes, Phillips confronted Dawson during a practice. Dawson would later be exiled from the team for questioning the double-standard of Shedeur and Shilo getting to attend team practice as he's being chewed out for being there for his family.
"Coach Prime started talking about how I let down the program, especially Shedeur, by coming back late. He told me he was going to take away my playing time and was upset," Dawson told BuffsBeat. "I spoke up for myself. Coach Prime told us to be responsible and take care of our family. That's what I was doing. I told him it was nonsense that I was being punished for being present for my daughter, but Shilo and Shedeur could miss a week for a fashion show. Prime lost it and started cussing me out and told me to pack my stuff in front of my teammates."
Dawson accused Sanders and Co. with playing with livelihoods. The receiver is now at Jax State in the Group of 5 ranks after feeling like his stock fell due to negative referrals from Colorado's coaches.
"There are too many of us with the same story," Dawson said. "Some of these schools will reach out, and then the conversation turns dry. Why is that? We're willing to work and feel we didn't get a chance to truly prove ourselves for Coach Prime and his staff for them to be playing around with our livelihoods."
Tar'Varish Dawson one of many Colorado football transfers with stories to tell
Dawson is one of many former Buffs who have, or will be, telling their story after leaving Boulder. He said it himself.
His testimony is based on a story that tracks. There will be some hearsay from others, but Dawson didn't stutter on a single detail. It's been corroborated with several CU players that his testimony is true.
Buckle up, Buffs fans. There's going to be plenty more of these kinds of stories.
