Deion Sanders' Colorado football coaching tenure will be assessed more critically by the University of Colorado Boulder's brain trust if there's another losing season on the field according to On SI's Emanuel Walker.

Of course, winning would stiff arm that deep-dive, as Walker relays.

"Add (coaching turnover) to drastic player turnover for two consecutive years," Walker prefaced before saying, "Looking at the athletes as the problem will be reevaluated at the end of another unsuccessful season, which means holding the coaches more accountable. Winning solves that part of things. There will be no rumblings of Sanders’ performance, if the Buffs put together a string of wins."

In the shadow of the infamous AthlonSports locker room report, talk of reevaluating Sanders' tenure only makes sense if it has little to do with what's going on under the lights of Folsom Field and other Big 12 stadiums and is more focused on the alleged disaster behind-the-scenes. Sanders has unmatched autonomy at Colorado, but that would go away if CU's reputation starts to take too much of a hit.

AthlonSports report may have scared Deion Sanders from previously interested poachers

The report probably won't ultimately be substantiated enough for there to be repercussions to Sanders from Colorado's higher-ups, but maybe the thought of those things happening in the Buffs locker room scares an interested Coach Prime poacher or two.

Then again, there may not be many prospective poachers anyway. The USC rumors Paul Finebaum concocted never had legs. Florida isn't on Sanders' mind, nor are his terms to be a head coach on the Gators' radar. That's true for any Big Ten or SEC squad.

Either way, there is a status quo in Boulder despite the perceived chaos. Coach Prime is defending himself and his program against malignant rumors and the team is building their individual brands, and the "Prime Time" Buffs brand, in front of Well Off Media cameras.
