Deion Sanders spoke from the heart while addressing the eight fathers on his Colorado football team that he is setting up accounts with Elevation Credit Union, which recently paired with the 5430 Alliance, to open on behalf of their children.

“Wan’t y’all to know it ain’t like you’re in trouble. You ain’t done nothing wrong,” said Sanders (h/t On3). “Actually, matter of fact, you did something right.”

“A child is not a mistake. A child is an opportunity to mature you, grow you, advance you, and give you some skills,” Sanders continued. “Y’all know how I am about fathering. You know I would not hire a coach unless he’s a great father. I don’t hire a coach that’s a deadbeat, I don’t hire a coach that’s not taking care of his responsibilities. I would never hire a man that he says he’s going to look after y’all but he won’t look after his. That don’t make sense to me.”

Deion Sanders has made Colorado football a family affair

Since taking over in Boulder, Coach Prime has stressed the importance of family. He has implemented his own sons locker room leaders on both sides of the ball and has recruited the sons of position coaches (Kevin Mathis' son Kaleb) and friends (Bill Goldberg's son Gage).

It's possible Sanders' infamous August 9 blow-up on the media at a presser had something to do with not being present for his first grandson's birth.

With all of that said, it's not all that surprising Sanders is offering players with sons such a great NIL deal. Coach Prime may not be the most pro-NIL head coach in the country, but he has embraced its impact.

Making such a positive impact on his players beyond their playing careers is an extraordinary gesture.

Don't expect this to go as viral as the bad news surrounding the program, though.
