Deion Sanders' son praises second-year Colorado football star after 198-yard game

Deion Sanders' son, Bucky Sanders, labeled Jimmy Horn Jr. "a young king" after the wideout's 198 receiving yards and touchdown reception propelled Colorado football to their first win of the 2024 season -- and first win since October 7, 2023.

Horn Jr. found himself wide open in the middle of the field during his score. Credit Shedeur Sanders for the ball placement and strength it took to overcome the pass work to get it.

Horn looked so noticeably faster than the Bison's defenders running down that sideline that his NFL prospects may have risen exponentially. The scouts looking at Shedeur and Travis Hunter found a third big-play threat with break-neck speed and great hands in Week 1.

Shedeur and Hunter have been assessed as possible Heisman winners and were even compared by Robert Griffin III to Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

"Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have that Patrick Mahomes-Travis Kelce connection. Even when they are covered, they aren’t," Griffin said of the Colorado QB-WR duo and the three-time Super Bowl champions.

Of course, Shedeur and Hunter were good enough in 2023 to garner preseason praise. Horn was productive but wasn't given star billing in the same way.

But he can continue to change that narrative. He'll just have to do it against Nebraska in Week 2. And CSU in Week 3. So on and so forth in the Big 12.

Perhaps the strongest indicator of Horn's future success is Coach Prime claiming Horn was like a son to him. That was what Sanders said of Hunter. We've seen what that's done for Hunter's reputation.

Sanders has always been sensitive to Horn's father being in prison. They've FaceTimed after games. It's a connection Sanders promotes between the father and son.

Horn is a product of Sanders' attention to detail of his favorites. The NFL draft makes sense given Coach Prime's bragged-about connections.
