Robert Griffin III was feeling a little overzealous during Colorado's 31-26 win over North Dakota State at Folsom Field on August 29 -- deeming Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter the next Pat Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

"Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have that Patrick Mahomes-Travis Kelce connection. Even when they are covered, they aren’t," Griffin said.

Seriously. During a nail-biter against the Bison, an FCS team in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Shedeur had a Mahomes-esque passing performance, throwing for 445 yards, four touchdowns, and a freak interception that wasn't his fault. Hunter was Kelce-esque with 132 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

But beating the Bison doesn't make you comparable to the three-time Super Bowl Championship duo. In fact, the comparisons end with Hunter and Kelce having the same first name.

Shedeur Sanders is no Pat Mahomes

Not only is the comparison of Shedeur and Hunter as a duo to Mahomes and Kelce fall short, but the individual comparisons don't work either. When it comes to Shedeur and Mahomes, while they both put up gaudy passing totals and limit turnovers,

Shedeur is a pure passer who likes to sit in the pocket and assess his options down the field. With an improved offensive line, the "Grown QB" had more time against North Dakota State, and even had the chance to move out of the pocket while still standing stationary and going through his reads.

Mahomes, on the other hand, does his best work throwing on the run. While he can do everything Shedeur does, that added element puts him on a tier that may not be occupied by anyone else.

Travis Kelce is no Travis Hunter

Hunter, like Mahomes, is on a level all his own. The two-way star locked down North Dakota State's receivers but also caught three touchdowns; one of which was a 41-yarder he created by being elusive after the catch.

Kelce couldn't dream of doing the things Hunter does on the field. But Kelce does have 65 pounds on Hunter, making that a two-way statement.

While Hunter completes any route regardless of coverage, Kelce famously runs his own routes and Mahomes just expects him to get open somehow. These two have much different values on and off the field. Hunter is already engaged at 21, while Kelce is dating the biggest pop star in the world.

As great as Shedeur and Hunter are, already comparing them two of the greatest NFL players ever is just a bridge too far.
