The Denver media is collectively condemning Deion Sanders' policy of not answering any questions from The Denver Post's Sean Keeler; this after a fiery Colorado football presser on August 9 where Coach Prime called the columnist out publicly for a perceived vendetta against the Buffs.

9News' Chris Vanderveen called Sanders' policy against Keeler "embarrassing" and claimed that Coach Prime and Co. are better off focusing on silencing the critics on the field.

"This is weak," Vanderveen prefaced before saying, "As a CU alum and a journalist…and a lifelong supporter of the football program……this is embarrassing. You shut critics up on the field. Not by pretending they don’t exist. Do better CU."

To CU and Keeler's credit, everyone is handling things well for the most part.

The University of Colorado Boulder is still permitting him to ask questions to Tad Boyle, JR Payne, and every other Buffs coach, but his football access is limited. He can still attend events, though.

As for Keeler's side of it, the columnist admitted he had the smoke from Sanders at that fateful August 9 presser coming.

"I’ve taken my swings at the pinata," Keeler wrote. "Friday was Prime’s turn, and he didn’t miss. I had it coming, as the old song from 'Chicago' goes. That’s fine."

Deion Sanders should answer a question from Sean Keeler after a Colorado football conference win

Sanders may have been ready to lash out at anyone on his birthday and the day his first grandson was born. Being away from his family and answering questions from reporters for their benefit isn't exactly the best way to spend a birthday.

He also may have been setting up a story arc that could have the happiest of endings: squashing the beef after a Buffs win.

Just imagine Sanders with a smile a mile wide looking at Keeler and saying "it's all good, man" and taking what'd likely be the safest questions Keeler has ever asked anyone.

That'd be a satisfying conclusion to this media melodrama.
