Julian Lewis makes interesting observation on Deion Sanders and Colorado football OC Pat Shurmur
Julian Lewis made quite the interesting claim about Deion Sanders and Colorado football offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur: they're not "recruiters," so much as they are proven pro football entities keeping it real with the Carrollton (GA) QB.
“The biggest difference (from January) is we all know each other better,” Lewis said to BuffZone's Brian Howell. “Coach Prime isn’t the kind of person to tell you what you want to hear. Coach Pat (Shurmur) isn’t a recruiter, either. He comes from the NFL, so that’s probably the biggest difference.”
The 2025 Colorado target was recently seen in a photo with fans sporting a CU hat. At this point, it's safe to say the full-on push from the City of Boulder could be moving the needle for Lewis.
But Auburn cannot be discounted if home is where his heart is.
Proximity to home gives Auburn advantage over Colorado football if Julian Lewis doesn't want to leave the Deep South
Auburn is less than a two-hour drive from Lewis' home, which as On3's Phillip Dukes points out, could be a major advantage in his recruitment.
“The proximity to home, being able to hit (Interstate) 85 and being right back in the area…there’s a lot of things that Auburn does present," Dukes said on The Five-Star Flex. “Can they continue to recruit, continue to stockpile on the offensive line so they can prove they can protect Juju, and how do they finish with these other top receivers?”
Colorado offers more to Lewis in the long run if he wants to build his brand and make money as Coach Prime's new wunderkind. Many southerners don't like to leave, though, and Boulder is a much different animal from the Deep South.
At this point, the only thing that feels definitive is Lewis probably is de-committing from USC at some point.
