Birds of a feather do flock together, even if they are decades apart. Kordell Stewart proved it by advocating for two-way phenom Travis Hunter to continue chasing greatness by playing on both sides of the ball in the NFL.

"Everything he does is special. He's cut down to the white meat. You just don't know how to process it. Plays wide receiver really well. Plays cornerback, obviously that's his strong suit but of course offense gets all the attention," Stewart said to CBS while highlighting Hunter's best qualities.

However, there was one thing in common that made Stewart appreciate Hunter even more.

"People ask the question: Would you play in one position? For what? Same thing they said to me, for what? Why would you minimize? We need to get coaches that can coach that stuff," Stewart prefaced before saying, "Don't take away from him stuff that makes him great. Stop trying to change him. Let him be himself and just figure out how you can implement it. "

"Slash" was all about Hunter not letting the current talks of him being prudent and playing only one position in the NFL get to him. Hunter's "special, special talent" also earned him a special nickname: Double Edge.

Travis Hunter awarded No.1 spot in NFL mock draft

In his praise of Hunter, Stewart had Hunter as his No.1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft without any second thoughts. It looks like this prediction is a popular one. First Draft's NFL guru Mel Kiper projected Hunter to be the No.1 pick in his early 2025 big board.

"He was a guy that everyone knew would be spectacular on both sides of the ball. That was the projection, that’s what everybody envisioned, and that’s what he’s become. As a corner, he’s outstanding. As a receiver, 10 catches. He’s gonna have a tonne more than that as the year progresses," Kiper said (h/t The SportsRush).

And it's not surprising. Ever since Hunter announced he'd be declaring for the 2025 NFL draft, he has been expected to be a top-five pick, if not a No. 1-type talent.
