Deion Sanders was deliberate about not answering any questions from CBS reporters at his August 9 Colorado football press conference. It wasn't about a Big 12 coaches ranking, as On3's Phillip Dukes explained, but about Coach Prime having his time wasted by the media conglomerate.

"There was a project between the two (Sanders and CBS) that one person did their part and was vulnerable enough to say, 'Hey, you know what? I'm going to share this with you,'" Dukes said (h/t Buffaloes Wire). "The other faction, said company, without notice, without saying anything, after all of this time and effort was put into something basically said, 'Nah, this ain't a good look for us right now.'

"If you want to know why Deion Sanders reacted the way he did, there was an abuse of trust between the two that I'm sure will be expounded upon later on. But as far as what I can say, it was way deeper than a ranking."

Sanders not only denied CBS Colorado's Eric Christensen a question at the presser but also confronted The Denver Post's Sean Keeler about his negative reporting about the Buffs. Keeler at least admitted he had it coming. Christensen was very far removed from CBS' decision, but he's still the messenger for the network.

No message will be relayed by CBS from a question asked by Christensen as it turns out. It's personal for Coach Prime.

Deion Sanders controlling his narrative through Well Off Media and selected media outlets

Sanders is taking the path of least resistance at Colorado when it comes to his coverage. He's giving full (though perhaps deceptively selective) access to his son, Bucky, for Well Off Media and is choosing a select few outlets -- Thee Pregame Show, DNVR Buffs, and even the Full Send podcast -- preferred access.

Everyone wants to cover him, but Coach Prime wants his message maximally curated.

He has the pull despite struggling in his one season at a Power Conference level. Who knows how long he'll get this kind of autonomy across the board in Boulder?

Winning prolongs it. Continued losing could cut it all short.
