Rick George sends confident message on upcoming Colorado football season
CU AD Rick George towed the company line, though he did show some true colors too, in an interview with BuffStampede's Adam Munsterteiger about Deion Sanders and the 2024 Colorado football season.
George thinks Deion's reputation is misconstrued. And that the hard work Coach Prime has put in during his time in Boulder will pay off big in 2024. And, in that moment of truth, revealed he isn't overly concerned about those who are unhappy about how CU is doing things.
“I think there’s a misperception about coach (Sanders),” George said. “If you know Coach Prime, he’s an incredible individual. He’s driven, he knows what it takes to be successful, he’s hired a great staff. We’re not going to make everyone happy, and that’s not our goal. Our goal is to focus on what we have in front of us, tune out all the noise that’s out there and make this program really great. I think Coach Prime’s going to do that. I think this is going to be a big step in that direction this year. Let the naysayers say what they want to say. We’re not listening to it; we’re just focused on what’s ahead.”
Deion Sanders has full support from Rick George and Colorado football boosters
George is all in on "Prime Time," and it's not a surprise why. The Buffs are more relevant than they've been in decades, CU is raking in record revenue, and Sanders himself is getting paid for the exposure he's bringing to Boulder.
Everyone is happy, including the local economy; so happy, in fact, that businesses are helping Colorado recruit blue-chip prospects like Julian Lewis.
George had nothing but good things to say, while the media has nothing but bad things to say about Coach Prime. Obviously, the truth is somewhere in between. But his CU stint has many obvious positives, and in many respects, George offered a fair rebuke of Sanders' critics.
