Shilo Sanders accused of frequently talking a big game, not backing it up
Shilo Sanders is facing several problems during the 2024 Colorado football season. Chief among his problems is his forearm injury set to keep him off the field for two to three weeks; one that follows offseason surgery on his shoulder. Other than that, he has a legal issue with former Focus Academies security guard John Darjean that could cost him over $11 million.
Oh, and the media hates him.
How else can you describe Shilo being called out for supposedly having a habit of talking a big game and not backing it up on the field for the Buffs?
Footage of Sanders' pregame trash talk ahead of Colorado's 28-10 loss to Nebraska was released -- and OutKick's David Hookstead called him out for repeatedly having bark but no bite.
"The most embarrassing part of this is that it's not the first time something like this has happened," Hookstead prefaced before saying, "Last season, Shilo ran his mouth talking trash to Oregon players before getting dismantled 42-6.
"Are we noticing a trend? Are we noticing that Shilo Sanders has the habit of talking a big game and then not backing it up. You should be if not."
Hookstead called Sanders out for behaving similarly last year in a 42-6 loss to Oregon.
“This is about as tough of a look as you can possibly imagine,” Hookstead wrote in September 2023. “This isn’t simply embarrassing. It’s downright humiliating for Shilo Sanders. If you’re going to run up to an opposing team shouting about how tiny they are, how you’re going to run through their ‘a**’ and beat up their coach, you better win the game.”
Shilo Sanders doesn't have perfect timing with his trash talk
Sanders, like most football players at the collegiate or pro levels, has trash-talked opponents violently. Unfortunately, footage of it goes viral seemingly only when the Buffs get their doors blown off.
Shilo, unlike his brother Shedeur, doesn't have "Perfect Timing" in any sense.
Especially when it comes to the injuries he keeps suffering ahead of a make-or-break year for his NFL draft candidacy.
