On SI's Jason Jones reports that Shilo Sanders won't return to the field for Colorado football until he's "physically ready." Sanders is out with a broken forearm suffered in Week 2 against Nebraska in Lincoln.

"If Shilo is not ready to play this weekend, Coach Prime has expressed the added value of a bye to give him an extra week to ensure he’s fully recovered before returning to the field," Jones wrote. "The team is focused on the long-term health of its players, and Shilo’s return will only happen if he is ready physically. Nonetheless, the possibility of his return against UCF remains on the table."

Coach Prime didn't sound like he'd be rushing his middle son back to the field anytime soon while speaking about Shilo's recovery timetable during UCF game week.

"Shilo is a fighter," Deion Sanders prefaced before saying, "He’s been working hard to get back, but we’ll have to see how he feels later in the week. If he’s not ready, we’ll give him another week to recover fully."

Shilo Sanders will either play four games or return soon

There's a point where Shilo may just choose to sit out eight games to get his redshirt. Maintaining another year of eligibility can prolong the "Prime Time" era in Boulder and boost his NFL stock for the 2026 draft.

His injuries and legal issues are more prevalent now than they'll ever be. Having another year go by, and staying out of trouble, can make him a hotter commodity to NFL front offices.

Or a hot commodity at all. It's unclear if there's interest in Shilo beyond a package deal with Shedeur.
