Stunning details emerge from Shedeur Sanders and Cam Newton's interaction in Orlando
Shedeur Sanders didn't have time for Cam Newton ahead of Colorado's eventual 48-21 rout of UCF. In fact, you can say that Newton had the opposite of "Perfect Timing" when he approached the "Grown QB" pregame.
Sanders not only barely acknowledged Newton, but as Athlon Sports' Steve Corder reports, he had some choice words for the former Heisman winner at Auburn.
"Newton, who has been critical of Sanders' career in the past, extended a handshake as he approached the young quarterback," Corder prefaced before saying, "Sanders briefly acknowledged the gesture, giving Newton a quick dap before turning away and resuming his pregame routine. It was an uncomfortable moment for fans watching as Newton stood there, seemingly expecting more from the interaction.
"Following the encounter, Newton can be heard saying, 'He said I’m on some weird s***.' Some of this might have to do with how freely Cam speaks on his podcast. In an episode earlier this year he said of Shedeur, 'What performance can you hang your hat on?'"
Shedeur Sanders gets revenge for Cam Newton's criticism of him in April
The Sanders family keeps receipts. Deion Sanders Jr. has always made sure to document what reporters say about him and Coach Prime put The Denver Post's Sean Keeler on blast to his face; on Deion's own birthday, no less.
Shedeur is no different. Newton claimed Shedeur wasn't a top-four pick in the NFL draft back in April. As a former No. 1 overall pick, Newton might've been trying to big-league Sanders. Need further proof that might be the case? Newton has been on a warpath of late and went as far as to say that if Eli Manning deserves a Hall of Fame jacket, Newton deserves two gold jackets.
Newton has been bitter about the end to his NFL career and he's taking it out on many of his QB peers.
Shedeur clearly doesn't want to take part in it and rebuked Newton for it.
