Tim Tebow showers far more praise on Shedeur Sanders than Nebraska's Dylan Raiola

Tim Tebow had nothing but good things to say about Colorado football star Shedeur Sanders. Better yet for Buffs fans, Tebow was hesitant to crown Nebraska's Dylan Raiola as the next Patrick Mahomes.

Tebow broke down Shedeur's game and likened him to someone willing and able to carry Colorado whenever necessary.

“I can’t wait to watch Shedeur,” Tebow said during the pre-College GameDay SportsCenter on September 7 (h/t On3). “If you look at what he did during Week 1 against a really good opponent — he did everything. They’re putting on back braces and he’s saying ‘I can carry more. Give me more, coach.’ Whatever you want to say, this kid is for real. The way he adjusts in the pocket, the way he maneuvers in the pocket, the way he throws when he’s getting hit … He turns the momentum and he’s done it from day one.”

Tebow was high on Raiola, but he seemed most moved by a Mahomes comparison that he feels is unjustified just yet.

“Dylan Raiola, Week 1, stepping up and dropping dimes all over,” Tebow said. “Everybody wants to make the Patrick Mahomes comparison because of their throwing motion, and you know, there are some similarities there. I know he wears the number, I know he looks like it, but you know what? Sometimes we throw those comparisons too soon, but the way this kid maneuvers in the pocket and his accuracy from different angles — he’s got so much talent."

Shedeur Sanders more vital to Colorado football than Dylan Raiola is to Nebraska

Shedeur is several years older than Raiola and has significantly more Division I football experience. Comparing them head to head is a fool's errand in the grand scheme. When their collegiate careers are over, then it's worth a comparison.

What you can quantify, though, is how important each player is to his team now. And while Raiola inspires hope for Husker fans everywhere, he has that defense he can rely on to help win him games.

For two years, Colorado has needed Sanders' big arm and playmaking abilities to win any game. The Buffs defense, while improved, still makes key mistakes that allow big gains for the opposition.

Sanders is more important to CU than Raiola is to Nebraska. Make whatever conclusions you need to from that statement.

Tebow would probably agree with it.
