UH law professor Meredith Duncan relayed that Colorado football S Shilo Sanders will not get any leeway for having been a minor when he assaulted John Darjean in the nearly $12 million settlement the two sides are litigating on in civil court.

“Minors are liable in tort just as adults are,” Duncan said (h/t USA Today). “Such is true in most states. The plaintiff in this case (Darjean) is suing Shilo for committing a tort (a civil wrong) and seeking to hold him civilly liable (for monetary damages). Unlike the criminal court system, on the civil side being a minor at the time of the commission of a tort does not shield one from liability. Usually, the practical difficulty in suing a minor in tort is that most minors have no money.”

Sanders' attorneys argued in a court filing back in June that Sanders' age now shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not his previous legal protection regarding his documents being sealed is to be revealed.

“There is no basis or justification under Texas state law or under the Bankruptcy Code or Bankruptcy Rules to unseal such materials relating to when Sanders was a minor simply due (to) Sanders reaching the age of majority," the filing reads.

Colorado football S Shilo Sanders may have sold himself out with 'Prime Time' bravado

Shilo's younger brother, Shedeur Sanders, raps about flashy watches and the gas up on his neck -- and one Texas law professor believes instead of joining him, Coach Prime's middle son should've been dressing "like a bum" to avoid being further audited.

“If the bling-bling is his, you don’t wear it,” said Dickerson (h/t USA Today). “If the bling-bling is part of an NIL deal that is with a jeweler, he could give it back. You don’t own it anyway (in that case), so just give it back. A good lawyer would say you need to show up looking like a bum from now until the case is dismissed.”

Evidently, Dickerson doesn't feel Shilo has a good lawyer at this moment. He certainly does not have the perfect timing his brother has ahead of the NFL draft.
