WWE legend Bill Goldberg's son Gage, a PWO Colorado football commitment, recently revealed to TMZ Sports what his final choices were before his recruitment took a sudden turn to include, and ultimately land on, CU.
"My top schools were Alabama, Duke, UCF, NC State. Those were my four," the 17-year-old said. "Then reached out to Deion and then the coach called him. The opportunity came up for a at Colorado and I committed on that."
Gage explained to BuffsBeat shortly after his decision to commit to the University of Colorado that the main draw to Boulder for him was Deion Sanders and the rest of the Buffaloes coaching staff.
"The main draw was that Colorado has an amazing coaching staff and obviously a great head coach that will help me excel in every way to become a better football player, and eventually to get me to the next level," Goldberg told BuffsBeat. "My dad's advice was go to the program that stands out to you the most and the one you know that you will love. I already know at this moment that I will love Colorado and it will also be great to be learning from one of my dad’s best friends ever."
Colorado football offers most for Gage Goldberg of his choices
As a PWO, Goldberg may be relegated to special teams duty in Boulder, at least for his first season. The linebacker position is one with question marks for the Buffs, but if everything breaks right, it is also one loaded with talent at the top of the depth chart.
Playing time wasn't what made Colorado the best choice for Goldberg. Being in the "Prime Time" and capitalizing on all of the extra non-diehard eyeballs CU has on its product because of Coach Prime is.
