Deion Sanders being so present in Shedeur Sanders' 2025 NFL draft process could affect the "Grown QB" and his chances of being selected with one of the top picks.
As Sportskeeda’s NFL insider Tony Pauline notes, some are growing wary of Coach Prime's influence, fearing he may be a vocal critic of whoever takes Shedeur.
“Many here are concerned that Deion Sanders might be an anchor around the neck of his son Shedeur, which could cause him to slip in the draft. With Deion being as outspoken as he is, and having the bully pulpit he does as coach of Colorado, the concerns center on the thought that criticisms of the team or coaches who end up drafting Shedeur will be heard weekly on the occasions the rookie quarterback is slumping and not playing well," Pauline relayed.
Shedeur, to his credit, doesn't condone those who negatively view his father's influence.
"I didn't know your parents being involved and wanting the best for you is a problem," Shedeur told the media, per Sports Illustrated. "I think as parents, each and every one would want the best for their kids. The fact that he has the opportunity to do that for me and he has the best quarterback in the country, he's supposed to do that.
"He made sure we understand, 'we have a nice house, but this is all my stuff. This isn't your stuff.' We inherited that mindset. In any situation, we're comfortable wherever we're at."
NFL front offices won't appreciate Coach Prime and his sons' cohesion. It might be why neither the Dallas Cowboys nor Las Vegas Raiders pulled off the necessary moves to pair the two as head coach and QB.
It's unclear if any team ever will agree to that arrangement. For now, Shedeur needs to forge his own path and convince front offices that the juice would be worth the squeeze.
