Shedeur Sanders has more Heisman hype than expected with Travis Hunter hogging the spotlight
Shedeur Sanders isn't out of the Heisman race yet. While he's not in the top four for Heisman odds, CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd put him in at No. 2 in his Week 9 Heisman Watch behind Colorado teammate Travis Hunter.
"1. Travis Hunter, Colorado (career high 153 snaps) 2. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (there's more on this qb's back than anyone in the country?) 3. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon (record breaker for the nation's most complete team) 4. Cam Ward, Miami (no td passes for the first time this season) 5. Marcel Reed, Texas A&M (do you have to ask?)," Dodd tweeted.
Shedeur has had a standout QB performance, elevating Hunter in the process, but because there's a teammate soaking up all the Heisman attention, he has not gotten the shine he should.
These things change week-to-week, though. If Hunter's numbers fall behind Shedeur's and the Buffs continue to win, the "Grown QB" could be in the mix.
Deion Sanders: Shedeur Sanders 'ain't thinking about no darn Heisman'
Deion Sanders sounds bitter that his son Shedeur isn't getting Heisman attention. While he said No. 2 isn't thinking of the award, that can't seem to be true considering how much Hunter thinks about it.
"I don't care. I really don't. It's just strange and funny to me. I just think it's just ignorant, but it's funny to us because Shedeur could care less," he admitted (h/t The Mirror US). "Shedeur wants to be drafted in a wonderful city. He wants to win out. That's what he thinks about. He ain't thinking about no darn Heisman, man."
Coach Prime will likely talk about Shedeur's Heisman candidacy for years no matter what. If Ashton Jeanty wins the award, we already know what he's going to say. It's possible he wrote the playbook for Hunter on how to address the Boise State RB's historic season.
Don't believe him when he says Shedeur isn't thinking about the Heisman.
