Shedeur Sanders undid a brilliant 23/29 passing, three-touchdown performance against Kansas in Week 13 with an ejection-worthy action during the 37-21 loss: he shoved a referee in a moment that may end up costing the Buffs a Big 12 Championship Game bid.
As Saturday Blitz's Andrew Boardwine explained, "Trailing 30-21, Sanders took a tough five-yard sack on a crucial 3rd-and-1 play. As Kansas defenders celebrated, one accidentally tripped over him while getting back to his feet. Already visibly frustrated from earlier hits, including one that saw a helmet collide with his knee, Sanders reacted by shoving an official who was trying to prevent him from confronting the Kansas player."
FOX officiating guru Mike Periera called Shedeur "lucky" that he wasn't ejected.
"The officials can use their hands all they want to try to keep order but you cannot come back as a player and push an official... He's lucky that he wasn't ejected from the game," Pereira said during the broadcast.
Shedeur may have gotten himself suspended for what would've been his Folsom Field finale in Week 14. Coach Prime may have to pull some strings to make sure his son doesn't sit out CU's senior night game.
He may not have to pull that hard. ESPN/Disney executives may make a phone call to the Big 12 to make sure the "Grown QB" is present during the Buffs' Black Friday affair with the Cowboys.
Regardless of whether or not he'll be in uniform next week, Shedeur made a mistake that will not fly in the NFL. Scouts won't be totally turned off by his actions, but it's possible that he may have cost himself a few extra draft slots, and possibly a few million bucks, by acting this way. Cam Ward may be unanimously seen as a preferable option at this point.
