Shedeur Sanders can take a Colorado football coach not named Deion to the NFL with him
Everyone has eyes on Deion Sanders following his son Shedeur Sanders to the NFL -- but no one is talking much about the possibility of Colorado football offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur following the "Grown QB" instead.
Coach Prime said he's not a "baby daddy" but a father. A father looks after his kids, and hiring Shurmur was a move aimed at getting Shedeur ready for the pros.
When Shedeur gets to the pros, why not have his effective play-caller come with him? Shurmur doesn't have to return to an NFL head coaching job, instead likely willing to take another offensive coordinator job.
Shedeur and Shurmur connect on a level that transcends the game. Both had the best things to say about each other amidst the Buffs' winning streak that ended at the hands of Kansas in Week 13.
“I can’t really disclose too much on what he’s saying in my ear, but it’s a great relationship,” said Sanders in early November (h/t NBC Sports). “He understands what I’m seeing, what he’s seeing. We talk through everything.”
“The better players make everybody look a little smarter,” explained Shurmur.. “It’s been fun for me, our journey together. It’s been short but we’ve got very close, very quickly. We sort of think alike. We’re able to come to the same conclusion about what it should look like.”
There's no need to import "Prime Time," Coach Prime and all, wherever Shedeur goes. Shurmur is the one pulling the strings behind his brilliance this season. Just bring him instead.
You'd have way less media distractions if nothing else.
