On SI's Kenny Lee relayed the excitement Shedeur Sanders provided the Colorado football fanbase by claiming he'd return to the Buffs if he received an NIL offer of $10 million. Sanders revealed as much in a video released by Well Off Media.
"As Colorado enters a bye week to rest and prepare for their upcoming road matchup against Texas Tech in Lubbock, the playful possibility of Sanders returning for one more season brings a new level of excitement," Lee wrote.
Lee didn't deny that it could've been a troll on the part of the "Grown QB," but did give props to how NIL is making college football a more attractive option compared to the NFL.
"Whether a serious consideration or a jest, Sanders’ comments reflect his deep connection to Colorado—and perhaps the ever-evolving power of NIL in shaping college athletes’ decisions," Lee wrote.
Shedeur has an NIL valuation of $6 million. That was more than his 2023 valuation.
Deion Sanders' Colorado football program could benefit from Shedeur Sanders teaming up with his successor
More than likely, Shedeur's successor at CU isn't on the roster right now. Coach Prime has been trying to reel in a big fish like Julian Lewis, and even if the Carrolton star committed, the 247Sports Composite 5-star would benefit from a year behind Shedeur.
The Buffs may not be good enough just yet to overcome the likes of Oregon, Georgia, or Penn State. But a year from now, with even more transfer portal talent who'd now be committing to a proven product, they could be.
Shedeur coming back would change college football. If his draft stock falls enough in the final four games, maybe it'll become more of a possibility.
He was probably joking, though. Shedeur will be on the Las Vegas Raiders with his good buddy Tom Brady now serving as a minority owner.
