The Spun's Andrew Holleran was able to find four tweets of Colorado football fans hoping to see the Buffs turn down an invite to the Alamo Bowl. One fan even complained about it because it'd be a Big 12 vs Big 12 matchup due to the Pac-12 tie-in to the game and CU being classified as a Pac-12 team still for bowl purposes.
That's just wrong. On many levels.
First of all, Coach Prime promised Peggy Coppom a bowl game. He made it a point to get to a bowl game for her sake as a 100th birthday gift. He was hoping to get her to a bigger bowl game than the Alamo Bowl.
“I was really dedicated to get Peggy to a bowl game,” Sanders said in November before their untimely loss to Kansas in Week 13. “Now we trying to get Peggy to the game. Yeah, it was a bowl game. Now it’s the game.”
Either way, declining an invite would be doing Ms. Coppom wrong. Coach Prime isn't about that life.
Also, Shedeur, Shilo Sanders, Travis Hunter, and Jimmy Horn Jr., all deserve a proper sendoff with Coach Prime. The former three have been to two bowl games but haven't gotten the job done. All four mean the world to Sanders and should be part of Coach Prime's first bowl game win.
There's no world CU should be considering sitting out a bowl game after so many said they couldn't make one. It's not happening, and it never was, but it shouldn't even be spoken of.
Don't put that evil out in the world, college football fans.
