2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter turns 23 today, marking another milestone in the already remarkable career of the former Colorado Buffaloes superstar.

Hunter’s wife, Leanna, celebrated the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post that read, “Happy Birthday to my husband.” She later added another message on Instagram Stories, writing, “I love growing up with you.” The happy couple will celebrate their one-year anniversary on May 24th.

Travis posted on his Instagram account two photos that appeared to be him showing a new watch.

The birthday celebration comes during an important stretch for Hunter professionally as he continues recovering from a torn lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in his right knee suffered during an October practice. Hunter underwent successful surgery and has been steadily working his way back during the offseason.

Despite the injury, expectations surrounding Hunter entering the fall remain enormous.

After some initial reports said that the Jaguars were looking to move Hunter into a full-time cornerback role, GM James Gladstone recently clarified that he anticipates Travis contributing on both sides of the ball.

Assuming his health cooperates, you can expect the former Colorado star, who was selected No. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, to play a major role on both offense and defense for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season.

That versatility is exactly what made him a legend at the University of Colorado.

Under Deion Sanders, Hunter became the face of the Buffaloes’ rise back into national relevance. He routinely played nearly every meaningful snap while starring simultaneously at wide receiver and cornerback against elite competition.

His historic two-way dominance ultimately helped Hunter capture the 2024 Heisman Trophy and helped lead the Buffs to a 9-3 regular season record and appearance in the Alamo Bowl. Along the way he also cemented his place permanently in Colorado Buffaloes football history. His #12 jersey, alongside Shedeur Sanders' #2, were retired during last season's annual spring game.

What separated Hunter was never just talent. It was his unbelievable stamina, toughness and the willingness to always embrace a role that almost nobody else in modern day football has or maybe would ever even attempt.

Now, as he celebrates his 23rd birthday while preparing for another NFL season in Jacksonville, Hunter is once again balancing recovery, expectations and opportunity all at once.

And if his career has shown anything so far, it is that Travis Hunter rarely backs down from any challenge.
