The path out of Boulder has not been the same for everyone. But by Thursday night, it could lead two former Colorado players to the same place.
First round.
Jordyn Tyson has played his way into the top of this draft.
He is no longer just a name to watch. He is part of the early conversation. A real Top 10 possibility as teams look for a receiver who can change games right away.
It shows up on film. The way he gets down the field. The way he tracks the ball. The way he finishes plays. He looks like a pro. And the buzz around him has only grown.
Deion Sanders put it simply earlier this week.
“Jordyn Tyson is Different.”
Tyson’s time at Colorado, though, came before Sanders arrived.
He played in Boulder in 2022 and showed flashes, finishing with 22 catches for 470 yards and four touchdowns. The bigger jump came later, after transferring, when everything clicked and his production took off.
That is the version teams are evaluating now.
While Tyson’s rise has been fast and visible, Colton Hood’s path has been more gradual. But just as real.
He has moved through multiple stops, continuing to develop along the way, eventually turning himself into a reliable and physical defensive back who fits what teams are looking for late in the first round.
There is a steadiness to his game. He competes. He adjusts. He plays with confidence.
And that has pushed him into the conversation for Thursday night.
There was a moment earlier in the pre-draft process where some wondered how he viewed his time at Colorado.
Hood did not go in that direction.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, he talked about his time at Tennessee which some perceived as a slight toward Deion Sanders and Colorado.
“I won’t really get into the differences,” Hood said. “At Tennessee, coach Heupel…he definitely cared about his players and did the best to keep us healthy and get us to Saturday. He did a great job with that and he’s just a great coach, players coach, so I love coach Heupel for sure.”
When the reaction went viral, he clarified his comments.
“By no means was I throwing shade at Colorado or coach Prime,” Hood wrote. “I said before I wouldn’t get into differences and proceeded to only talk about my previous school as I assumed that was the best way to go about answering the question.”
That was it. No comparison or added meaning. Just his experience.
For Colorado, it leaves an interesting draft-night storyline.
