Colorado football is down their best receiver, Travis Hunter, and one of their other best receivers, Jimmy Horn Jr., after a Week 7 matchup with K-State that was more heartbreaking than the 31-28 final score in favor of the Wildcats.
Hunter was injured on the defensive side after one of his interceptions. Only No. 12 would have to leave the game after doing something so impressive. Hunter was favoring his shoulder when he went to the sidelines and never returned.
Horn also left the game, though what caused his injury was less clear. Horn was joined by Omarion Miller and Terrell Timmons on the shelf; though the latter two don't have nearly the same impact as Horn does on the Buffs.
So what will Colorado do to combat the loss of their two top receivers? USA Today's Brent Schrotenboer explained how CU's strength in numbers could get the Buffs past this tumultuous unhealthy period.
"But what do they do without Hunter and Horn? Receivers Omarion Miller and Terrell Timmons also suffered injuries Saturday. The good news for the Buffs is that they’re deep at the receiver position. Nine different players caught balls Saturday from Shedeur Sanders, who completed 34 of 40 passes for 388 yards and three touchdowns with one interception," Schrotenboer wrote.
Colorado football facing difficult stretch at the worst time
Arizona isn't the toughest opponent in Week 8, but they definitely pose a challenge at home with Noah Fifita leading the charge. Cincinnati has outperformed expectations themselves. Needless to say, this injury didn't come at an ideal time.
With two weeks to go until their next bye, the Buffs have some extra rest that can come in handy before the home-stretch. But they don't want to be limping into it with three straight losses coming off the first bye.
They may have to be limping in. But they don't need to with a losing streak.
