Vanderbilt continues to build under head coach Mark Byington, and the latest move out of the transfer portal adds size to the frontcourt.
Former Colorado forward Bangot Dak revealed his decision on Instagram, using a short message to mark the moment.
“Let’s get it #anchordown,” Dak wrote.
The 7 foot junior leaves Colorado after putting together his most productive stretch at the college level. He averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting just under 50 percent from the field, starting 30 games and logging consistent minutes throughout the season.
His role grew as the year moved along. Dak certainly found a rhythm offensively late in the season and showed he could deliver in bigger moments, including a double-doble, 22 points and 10 rebounds, against Utah in early March.
He carried that form into the postseason. In Colorado’s Big 12 Tournament matchup with Oklahoma State, Dak finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, converting 10 of his 13 attempts from the field.
Across three seasons in Boulder, Bangot played in 90 games and made 50 starts, gradually carving out a dependable role in the rotation. Colorado finished with 17 wins and missed the NCAA tournament, but Dak’s progression on offense, and as a rim defender, stood out over the course of the year.
Now, he moves on with experience and production already established, giving the Commodores a proven option in the paint. If Dak continues on an upward trajectory, he may likely hear him name called in the 2027 NBA Draft.
