Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty didn't take any shots at two-way Colorado football star Travis Hunter after being called "a running back that's good" -- instead giving Hunter credit but giving context to his historical backfield performance.

“Kudos to Travis, he’s balling for real," Jeanty said (h/t On3). "He’s doing some stuff we ain’t ever seen nobody do. Personally, I don’t take no offense to it. He’s just speaking his opinion, everybody’s got an opinion.

"For me, what I’ve been doing hasn’t been done in 36, 37 years, so that’s something special. If I keep that up and break a record that’s been around for 36 years, I feel like you can’t really compete with that.”

Compare Jeanty's assessment of Hunter with Hunter's assessment of Jeanty.

“I know I can win it, but I don’t know who’s there,” Hunter told RGIII and his wife Grete on  the "Outta Pocket with RGIII" podcast. “I mean y’all see Ashton Jeanty, it’s not like we haven’t seen a running back that’s good. We haven’t seen a player that plays both ways and I’m gonna keep saying that.

“He has, I think, 95 carries for 1,000 yards. If I had 95 catches, how much yards you think I’d have? If I had 95 targets on defense what you think I’d have? If I had 95 catches on offense, what do you think I’d have?”

Travis Hunter losing PR war to Ashton Jeanty

The best defense one could have of Hunter is that he's being corrupted by Deion and the rest of the Sanders family. His response to the attention Jeanty is getting makes him look bad, and he now looks worse with Jeanty taking the high road.

Jeanty is definitively winning the PR battle. When voters are somewhat subjectively choosing the Heisman winner, that should only help the Broncos star.

If Hunter believes he's battling an anti-Deion Sanders bias, he shouldn't have given voters another reason not to vote for him.
