Colorado added another intriguing piece to its growing 2027 recruiting class Sunday when three-star wide receiver Jaiden Kelly-Murray announced his commitment to the Buffaloes during a live CBS Sports and 247Sports commitment.

The moment briefly turned into one of the more chaotic commitment reveals of the summer when Kelly-Murray appeared ready to announce Virginia Tech before quickly pivoting and revealing Colorado instead. The fakeout created a moment of confusion before the South Carolina standout confirmed he would be heading to Boulder to play for Deion Sanders.

Kelly-Murray, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound receiver from Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, chose Colorado over Illinois, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest despite holding more than 40 scholarship offers.

The highly productive playmaker is currently rated as a high three-star prospect and sits just outside four-star status in the 247Sports rankings. He is ranked as the No. 48 wide receiver nationally and the No. 8 overall prospect in South Carolina.

During the interview following his announcement, Kelly-Murray pointed directly to Sanders as the biggest reason behind his decision.

“I had a conversation with Coach Prime,” Kelly-Murray said. “The conversation meant a lot to me. He a Hall of Famer. So, just me going out as a true freshman under a Hall of Famer means a lot to me.”

Kelly-Murray described himself as a “playmaker” with strong football IQ and said development was one of the most important factors throughout his recruiting process.

Scouting evaluations project him as a versatile offensive weapon capable of making an impact from the slot while also contributing in the return game. He has already produced more than 150 catches during his high school career while building a reputation as one of the more explosive playmakers in the region.

The new Colorado commit also revealed the Buffaloes had known about his decision before Sunday’s public announcement.

“I told them like two days ago that I was committing,” Kelly-Murray said. “They really wanted me to commit.”

Colorado’s 2027 recruiting class continues climbing nationally after Kelly-Murray became the Buffaloes’ ninth known commitment, pushing the group to No. 35 in the latest 247Sports composite rankings while adding another dynamic playmaker for Sanders and his staff.

Kelly-Murray also made it clear his recruiting work may not be finished. When asked which prospect he would most like to see join him in Boulder, he immediately mentioned Texas prospect Brody Knowles from Southlake Carroll.

For Colorado, the momentum on the recruiting trail continues to build as Sanders and the Buffaloes stack another nationally recognized skill player into the program’s future plans.
