The sophomore defensive end and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native played in all 13 games last season ranking in fifth in QB pressures on the Buffs in 2024. McCoy also had 19 solo tackles (23 total), four tackles for loss and six third-down stops.
In his previous season in 2023 as a freshman, McCoy was a honorable mention for Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, with four sacks and 13 tackles. He also produced on special teams for Colorado in the return and kicking game.
The 6-foot-3, 250 pound pass rusher is a former three-star recruit — with On3 ranking McCoy the No. 577 overall prospect in the Class of 2023. He also had offers from Baylor, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Iowa State before choosing to play in Boulder.
The Colorado Buffaloes ranked No. 1 in the Big XII in sacks last season with 44.5. The Buffs bring back Arden Walker, Keaten Wade, and Samuel Okunlola, as well as many incoming freshmen, including Landon Merritt and Alexander McPherson, who will also get major snaps for the ever-improving Buffs defense.
Taje McCoy has three years of eligibility remaining.
