Colorado football star Travis Hunter has two advantages in the Heisman race over Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty. For one, he plays two positions. No one has played both sides of the passing game like Hunter has. Ever. But Hunter also plays for a team that can get away with more losses than Jeanty's.

The Broncos will get no grace for losing to SDSU, Nevada, SJSU, Wyoming, or Oregon State. A two-loss Boise State doesn't get in the College Football Playoff as the Group of Five bid over a one-loss Army. Or a one-loss Navy. Or either of them with two losses.

The Buffs can probably lose three games, one of them being the Big 12 Championship game, and still have the narrative necessary for Hunter to hoist the Heisman Trophy in New York City. If Jeanty doesn't have the Broncos close to the postseason and doesn't continue to be historically good from the RB position, Hunter can ride the "Prime Time" spotlight to some hardware.

An 'anti-Deion bias' can keep Heisman Trophy out of Colorado football star's hands

Colorado is winning enough to make one wonder if Hunter will get the Heisman if push comes to shove. Rich Eisen fears an "anti-Deion bias" keeping the Heisman out of Hunter's hands. It'd make sense considering Coach Prime's prior problems with the media.

"If he doesn't win, it will be anti-Deion bias. He is playing with every snap. His routes are second to none, and he plays defense lights out. I swear he is going to do this in the pros," said Eisen (h/t Marca).

Hunter is by no means the Heisman favorite. And Jeanty isn't anymore either. Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel is the odds-on favorite after Week 9. Don't forget Miami QB Cam Ward right there behind him.
