DeMarcus Ware Jr. is still early in his recruiting process, but Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are already making their move.

Ware Jr., a freshman linebacker and wide receiver prospect from national powerhouse Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, announced this week that he received an offer from Colorado. The Buffs become the fourth known program to offer the 6-foot athlete as Coach Prime and his staff continue identifying promising prospects early in the recruiting cycle.

Other offers for Ware Jr. posted on his X account include UTSA, Arkansas State, and the SMU Mustangs.

According to 247Sports, Colorado has already extended 32 offers to prospects in the 2029 recruiting class as the program continues taking an aggressive early approach on the trail.

Because Ware Jr. is still only a freshman, recruiting rankings are still in the very early stages across the board. Still, there is already reason to believe he could become a heavily recruited prospect over the next few years considering he plays at Carroll and brings versatility on both sides of the ball as a linebacker and wide receiver.

The offer also comes shortly after Ware’s father, DeMarcus Ware, spoke openly about trying to keep perspective while raising young athletes during an appearance on the “Fitz and Whit” podcast.

“Even like my son, he’s ninth grade. He’s 6’2, 200 lb monster right now,” Ware said during the interview. “But I’m like, dude, no, no, no. We about to like dial this down and just get his mind right with where he needs to be.”

A few more schools may be calling now, but Ware’s comments about keeping things grounded feel even more relevant with major programs like Colorado starting to enter the picture.

Ware Jr. comes from one of Texas high school football’s more recognizable programs at Southlake Carroll while also carrying the name of one of the NFL’s all-time great pass rushers. His father starred at Troy University before building a Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.

Colorado appears to be betting on upside and long-term development here, and Ware Jr.’s recruitment could continue to grow quickly as more programs evaluate him over the next few years.
