With just under two weeks until Colorado kicks off fall camp in Boulder, Coach Prime has one more stop to make: the NFL.
Deion Sanders revealed this week that he plans to visit both of his sons—Shedeur and Shilo—at their respective NFL training camps before turning his full attention back to the Buffs.
It’ll be his first fall as Colorado’s head coach without either of them on the roster, and you can tell it’s hitting him just a little.
Coach Prime is planning on taking a trip down to Tampa to see Shilo Sanders, and Cleveland to see Shedeur for Training Camp❤️

“I’m going to try my best to get on a plane to go see you and go see Shedeur go to work,” Deion told Shilo on FaceTime, as seen in a new YouTube vlog.
The two youngest Sanders boys are both entering their rookie seasons—Shilo as a safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Shedeur as a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
And while Coach Prime has a loaded preseason ahead in Boulder, it's nice to see that he’s not missing the chance to see them get started.
A Dad First, Always
Coach Prime is a brand, a Hall of Famer, but at the core, he’s still Dad.
After spending most of the summer recovering from health issues at his home in Texas, Sanders showed up at Big 12 Media Days last week looking recharged. Now, he’s squeezing in this NFL trip just before Buffs players report to camp on July 27.
Tampa is up first, where Shilo will be fighting to earn a spot on the Bucs’ final 53-man roster. After going undrafted in April, he signed as a free agent and has already made a strong impression on head coach Todd Bowles.
“He’s very intelligent, he’s very loud,” Bowles said this offseason. “He’s got a good grasp of things day one… but you’ve got to make plays in pads.”
That’s Shilo in a nutshell—loud, physical, and passionate.
After Tampa, Deion will try to make it to Berea, Ohio, where Shedeur is one of four quarterbacks competing for the Browns’ starting job.
Shedeur’s calm demeanor, pro-ready mechanics, and experience in high-pressure moments have already caught the attention of fans and analysts in Cleveland.
There has been recent buzz and trade rumors that Shedeur will be traded before the season starts. Considering the off-the-field speeding ticket issues, it's not too far fetched to think this.
However, if the Browns decide to have him sit behind a veteran like Kenny Pickett or Joe Flacco, Shedeur’s time is coming.
A New Era Begins in Boulder
As emotional as it might be to see Shedeur and Shilo step into the next chapter, Deion’s focus will be back in Boulder soon enough—and the 2025 season might be his most fascinating yet.
No Travis Hunter. No Shedeur. No Shilo. But this team is far from empty.
Jordan Seaton is anchoring a revamped offensive line. Defensive coordinator Robert Livingston has tools to work with, and a full offseason with this staff should bring stability after all the roster turnover.
So yeah, it’s a new era. But the foundation that Shedeur and Shilo helped build is going to be very evident that it's still there.
Their impact on CU football brought belief again. They made Boulder cool. And as Coach Prime visits their NFL camps this month, it’s a head coach sending a message to the rest of the Buffs:
We build pros here.
Other Buffs to Watch in the NFL
You know Coach Prime will be watching very closely for the other players in the league this season. Obviously, he'll be close to Travis, but Colorado’s 2024 squad sent a handful of rookies into NFL camps:
Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig (S, Jaguars)
BJ Green II (DE, Jaguars)
Jimmy Horn Jr. (WR, Panthers)
LaJohntay Wester (WR, Ravens)
That’s a lot of black and gold in pro locker rooms this fall. Something we haven't had for years. Don’t be surprised if several stick.
