Aaron Rodgers sends strong message on meeting Colorado football HC Deion Sanders for the first time
While recalling what it was like to meet Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders, Aaron Rodgers told the folks at the "Keep Hammering Collective" podcast how overwhelmed he was as a plucky youngster entering the NFL.
“I’m like you know, some 21 year old pimple face kid," Rodgers said (h/t Essentially Sports). "You know, like hey, this is really cool. I mean, I know we’re down 41 to 3 but like I’m on the field with you and you’re a legend. You know, like it was a really cool moment. Like a 'Welcome to the NFL.' Like I’m on the field with Deion f**king Sanders."
Rodgers has long been a fan of Coach Prime, having praised the Colorado head man after the Buffs shocked the world following victories over TCU and Nebraska during the first two weeks of the 2023 season in September.
"Saleh said this, ‘If there’s a lot of crows pecking and a lot of people s--- talking, he must be doing something right,’" Rodgers told the crew of The Pat McAfee Show (h/t FOX News). "[They] shut up the team that was in the national championship in Week 1. And somebody said something in Week 2, right? They shut them up. Somebody just said something in Week 3 now, and they’re about to shut them up, too."
Aaron Rodgers sings praises for two-way Colorado football star Travis Hunter
Rodgers not only has love for Coach Prime, but his top-rated two-way star, Travis Hunter, as well.
"The other kid that plays both ways? He’s incredible," Rodgers said.
Sanders may not have the backing of most media members, but what he does have is the respect of his NFL peers. Well, most of them anyway. Some, like Ricky Williams, think anyone could do what Coach Prime has done in Boulder.
