It appears Chad Ochocinco will be analyst on Coach Prime's Colorado football staff
Per BuffsBeat's Josh Tolle, Chad Ochocinco will be an analyst for Coach Prime's Colorado football support staff moving forward, presumably in a capacity relating to the Buffs' receiving corps developmentally and on the recruiting trail.
"Sanders recently roasted Coach 'Ochocinco' for taking his top recruit, Jordan Seaton, to the wrong restaurant while visiting down in Miami," Tolle prefaced before saying, "It was part of his first duties upon joining the Buffs. Prime initially denied Johnson's request to be on staff while making an appearance on 'Nightcap', but it seems like he'll be an analyst during the upcoming season. One of the few former NFL players associated with the program, including Hall-of-Famers Terrell Owens and Warren Sapp."
Ochocinco, FKA Chad Johnson, has not held a coaching role thus far in his post-playing career. His last NFL season was in 2012, and his last pro season as a member of Fundidores de Monterrey in Mexico was in 2017. His desire to move into a coaching role has been evident all offseason, with constant pitches to Coach Prime finally paying off in a new role.
Coach Prime loading up on NFL legends for Colorado football coaching staff
Coach Prime confirmed Warren Sapp's role on his staff in December during an appearance on the December 20 edition of The Rich Eisen Show.
“To see him go get his diploma, because I know what he wants to do, he wants to coach on this staff and he wants to be a part of this staff,” Sanders said (h/t Yahoo Sports). “And he is going to be a part of this staff.
“Even the offensive linemen, they glean from him too because he’s so thought-provoking that he can tell them ‘Don’t let the defensive lineman get you at that point or this point or this point.’ I think he’s that — he’s a wealth of knowledge and he’s hilarious, man.”
The cherry on top of Deion Sanders' collection of NFL legends would be giving Ed Reed another shot at coaching with an offer to be Colorado's next defensive coordinator.
