Travis Hunter the only EA Sports College Football 25 cover star ranked in top 10

While Texas QB Quinn Ewers and Michigan RB Donovan Edwards were absent from the EA Sports College Football 25 video game's top 10 players list, Travis Hunter was at No. 6; repping Colorado as the lone representative from the game's cover to be ranked so high.

Hunter being so high proves how much the college football world respects him. His also being on the cover of the game proves he has unmatched marketability in the 2025 NFL draft class outside of Shedeur Sanders.

A big reason why he's ranked so high is his two-way versatility, but he may not be much of a two-way player in the NFL.

Travis Hunter predicted to play mostly defense in the NFL

Buffaloes Wire's Tony Cosolo has Hunter pegged as mostly a defensive back by the time he reaches the NFL.

"Many before Hunter have taken a similar path, including Pro Football Hall of Famer and CU head coach Deion Sanders, in dominating on defense while getting spot duty on offense," Cosolo prefaced before saying, "However, lockdown corners aren’t often widely available in the draft. While wide receiver has become a premium position in modern offenses, those players can be found in later rounds.

"Everyone knows that Hunter is an athletic freak, but asking Hunter to do in the NFL what he did in college is a tall task. He can do it, but I believe his NFL future is on the defensive side of the ball with occasional appearances on offense."

In a nutshell, Cosolo is letting everyone know that they should enjoy Hunter's two-way versatility now before he ends up being a specialist in the NFL. In 2024, he is expected to play CB, nickel, and WR. He may even be a PK at some point.

The NFL will likely never see that. Many special things are happening in Boulder in 2024, but Hunter being everywhere on the field is right up at the top of that list.
