The NFL Combine just got a little less exciting for Colorado fans.
According to Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette, Travis Hunter won’t be participating in workouts at the NFL Combine. This comes right after Shedeur Sanders made the same decision, and honestly, it’s a move that makes perfect sense.

Just like with Shedeur, Hunter’s resume speaks for itself. Heisman Trophy winner, two-way sensation, highlight machine—his game tape at Colorado and Jackson State tells you everything you need to know.
NFL teams aren’t going to drop him down their boards because he didn’t run a 40-yard dash in Indy. Plus, after battling through injuries in 2023 and 2024, why take unnecessary risks before his pro day? It’s just smart business.
On top of that, Hunter recently shut down the idea of returning kicks and punts at the next level.
“I’ve already got two jobs.”
The fact that he even mentioned “two jobs” strongly suggests he has every intention of continuing his rare two-way dominance at the professional level. Teams know they’re getting a unicorn.
Skipping the Combine isn’t going to hurt Hunter or Shedeur’s draft stock—it just adds to the hype for their Pro Day in Boulder. With two of the biggest names in college football history opting to showcase their skills at the IPF, all eyes will be on Colorado’s Pro Day. Scouts, analysts, and NFL front offices will be flocking to Boulder. It's going to be a media zoo.
This Pro Day will only add to the growing excitement surrounding the Buffs program. The buzz around CU’s facility is going to be electric, with scouts eager to get a closer look at Hunter and Sanders. Johnny Manziel's Pro Day won't even come close to matching this kind of craziness.
This also presents a unique recruiting advantage. With many recruiting visits scheduled soon, these recruits will now see Boulder as a legitimate launching pad to the NFL. The more success stories Coach Prime produces, the more top talent will want to wear the black and gold.
So for now, Buffs fans, let's sit back, relax, and enjoy watching LaJohntay Wester and Jimmy Horn Jr. at the combine. However, the real show is coming soon—right in the heart of Boulder.
